SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals

An array of visionary liaisons meet the SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals where the University has articulated both national and international linkages for the very purpose of mutual uplift. This has been remarkably accomplished through the MoUs and associations that it has fostered as strategic alliances for the very purpose. Hence, Ilma University is way ahead in justifying and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in every aspect of its inward as well as outward working.

Projects and Events

Ilma University has developed shared action plans in collaboration with cantonment board of Karachi to take steps against the possible causes of climate change. These initiatives include plantation drives in different parts of the city, workshops and seminars for the awareness of the society individuals. Ilma has conducted an awareness workshop in which experts were invited to educate the audience about the ways they can contribute to protection against climate change.

Ilma University has dedicated efforts not only for spreading awareness about SDG but also University have arranged various discussion based sessions to find and implement solutions for various issues like climate change, energy efficiency and conservation. Ilma University belief that all institution (national or international) must join hands with local and federal governments to find solutions to these rising issues. Therefore, Ilma University conducted on campus workshops and a workshop in collaboration with Rotary Club in Karachi. The aim of this workshop was to educate the community about the need and outcomes of adopting energy conservation practices and alternate energy solutions. Attendees were from the academics, industrial and SME sectors.

Ilma University has collaborated with Rotary Club to work on proliferation of awareness related SDG matters and finding innovative solutions to address few of the utmost challenges, world is facing. Ilma University has taken various initiatives in collaboration with Rotary Club including startups mentoring and assistance, conducting numerous sessions, seminars and workshops to develop policies and plans for other SDG related issues like Energy conservation, water conservation and environment protection.

Ilma University has conducted numerous on-campus and off-campus educational workshops with an aim to educate the students about SDG and encourage them to proliferate the awareness in the society as well. Therefore, various activities has been conducted with the help of students who volunteered for University’s campaign of spreading awareness in the society. A campaign was launched to spread the awareness in underprivileged areas. For this campaign, 3 teams of 6 students each led by 2 faculty members went into the underprivileged areas of Karachi to educate them about water crisis, its impact on society and steps that can be taken to conserve water.

Teams visited mosques and parks of these areas to spread the awareness among the community members. Members visited the selected spots once a week for a month. They communicated to the people in mosques and parks to educate them about the water scarcity and measures that can be taken at individual level to conserve the water and distributed the fliers made in Urdu language Furthermore, Ilma University Women's Leadership and Mentor Program was successfully conducted to connect selected female students with professional female role models who may provide significant insight and inspiration This program was a 3 months program during which Mentors and mentees met once a week in whichever format it was convenient for them. Meetings can took place in person, over the phone, or by videoconference. The aim of this activity was to boost confidence level of the female students and their encouragement to take part in economic and social development of the country.

Startups Assistance
Ilma University has signed a MoU with Rotary Club for the execution of various mentorship programs and workshops for the business enthusiast. These programs are aimed at bridging the gap between business experts and those who seek technical guidance for starting or growth of businesses.
Ilma University has established incubation and financing avenues for the support of business enthusiasts, fledgling entrepreneurs, professionals and students who were seeking assistance. Ilma University leveraged funding to provide optimum benefit to businesses, startups and ventures that aim to escalate their operations to step these up to the next level.

Water conservation campaign

Most of the attendees were from the industrial and SME sectors.

Public Access
Ilma University Library facility is available to assist students and faculty in their research, learning and teaching activities. Our library facilitates both the on campus and online learning needs of the students and faculty. Ilma Library is open also to the general public as well as students from other universities. However, visitors and members from the general public who intend to use the Library must first fill out a registration form. Furthermore, staff and students from different universities can also get themselves registered for the use of library and its resources.
